What is CIRT for the Armed Citizen?
Critical Incident Response Training at Viking 6 Tactical is a purpose-built series of courses designed specifically for the armed citizen. Our curriculum, from beginner to advanced, combines classroom instruction with realistic, hands-on training to prepare you for high-stress, real-world emergencies. We take a no-nonsense approach: training is practical, outcome-oriented, and grounded in tactics and techniques proven in military, law enforcement, and civilian incidents.
Courses cover the full spectrum of critical-incident skills, including threat recognition, decision-making under stress, movement and cover, trauma care, and weapon retention and transitions. Our signature Precision Retention Shooting Programs (pistol and rifle) emphasize accurate, repeatable marksmanship while integrating close-quarters retention tactics and the legal and moral considerations of using force. The goal is simple, train you to survive, prevail, and make the right decisions when seconds matter.
Additionally, our Stop the Bleed Training teaches trauma care from the most basic to advanced life-saving techniques. This program is designed to give you the confidence and ability to save the life of someone you love in the critical minutes before emergency responders arrive.
These are full-day, immersive courses led by experienced instructors with real operational backgrounds. Courses can be booked individually and paid for through our incremental payment option in the booking portal, making professional-level training accessible to all responsible citizens.

This indoor-range course teaches the foundational skills needed for responsible, accurate defensive shooting in close-quarters environments. Beginning with core defensive principles and tactics, the class covers the legal and moral implications of using deadly force, when it is justified and how to document and respond after an incident.
Training then progresses into precision defensive shooting, emphasizing clean mechanics and repeatable technique. Students build these skills through iterations of dry-fire and laser-based drills that develop safe habits and accelerate muscle memory before moving to live fire. In the live-fire portion, participants practice precision exercises that reinforce accuracy, trigger control, sight alignment, and presentation under stress. We also teach practical, safe at-home training methods so you can continue improving between classes. This course is ideal for those new to defensive pistol work or anyone wanting a structured path to accurate, retention-oriented shooting.

Advanced Training (Outdoor Range)
Advanced instruction is conducted at an outdoor range and builds on the basic curriculum. Emphasis shifts to dynamic skills such as drawing from a holster, rapid and accurate shooting from cover, shooting while moving, and stress inoculation. Drills include multiple-target engagements, shoot/no-shoot decision exercises, and varying target distances to simulate realistic encounters. This session focuses on speed, accuracy, decision-making under pressure, and practical retention tactics to prepare students for higher-stress, real-world scenarios.

Participants must complete the basic course or similar training before taking the Advanced Course.
Precision Retention Shooting — Rifle (MSR / AR-15)
This course series teaches practical, defensive rifle skills built for the armed civilian who wants reliable, real-world capability with the Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR/AR-15). Instruction is progressive, start with the Basic class, move to Advanced, and then take the specialized Advanced Rifle → Pistol transition only after completing both advanced courses.
Basic (Indoor/Controlled Environment)
An introduction to the MSR/AR-15 platform covering fundamentals every shooter needs: safe operation, assembly and disassembly, and basic maintenance. Students learn zeroing concepts for both iron sights and optics, hands-on “ready-up” and manipulation drills, and practical loading/unloading routines. Emphasis is placed on consistent fundamentals, sight alignment, trigger control, cheek weld, and sling/rifle mounting, that create repeatable accuracy. Dry-practice and procedural drills are used to build muscle memory before live fire.
Advanced Rifle → Pistol Transition (Outdoor Range)
Advanced training moves to an outdoor range and focuses on defensive applications: rapid, accurate shooting under stress, loading and magazine changes while moving, engaging multiple targets from about 25 yards to close-in distances, and detailed shoot/no-shoot decision work. Students learn the concept of sight height over bore (height-over-barrel) and how it affects point of impact at varying ranges. Drills emphasize speed, accurate shot placement, movement to and from cover, and tactical reloads under pressure.
This course teaches smooth, safe transitions between rifle and pistol platforms during dynamic scenarios. Students train movement, retention, weapon transitions, and stress-inoculation drills to manage multi-gun engagements. Prerequisite: Completion of both Advanced Rifle and Advanced Pistol courses is required before enrolling.
